I've been sick in bed for five days. I'm finally feeling better, but my body is aching. I'm at the point where I can't lie, sit or be still any longer.
The only thing that seems to ease the aches is MOVEMENT!
Interesting…
I know my body needs movement to feel good - to feel fluid and free. Of course, there's a balance to be found. I'm still learning that.
I notice this when I'm working at my desk for hours on end. If I'm engrossed in something, I can become so absorbed in what I'm doing that I almost disconnect from my body. My magnificent mind takes over, running wild with ideas, and I give the work my full attention.
Then I eventually come to and reconnect with my body.
I'm stiff. I'm sore. And usually, I'm starving!
These past five days have been different. I've rested more than I ever have - really rested. I've spent most of my time in bed, sleeping and allowing my body the time it needs to recover.
And now, after all that stillness, my body is aching in a way I can no longer ignore.
So, what's the solution?
Shaking vigorously for ten minutes to some seriously banging music!
And you know what? It seems to have helped. 😊
It got me thinking about how easily I can lose touch with what my body needs, whether I'm caught up in my head, absorbed in my work, or simply doing what I think I should be doing.
Sometimes I need to stop.
Sometimes I need to move.
And sometimes I need to turn the music up and shake it all out!
I'm still learning to notice the difference, to listen, and to respond rather than just carry on regardless.
I wonder how often we get so caught up in what we're doing that we forget to check in with ourselves.
And I wonder what might change if we paused long enough to notice what we actually need?
I wonder what you'll notice…✨
